Question:
Why are some regions smaller than others?
Minnesota is a big state! Rather than ask people to drive
long distances during the week, we split up the regions as geographically
friendly as possible. We anticipate some regions will expand next
time around.
Question:
Who qualifies for the regional playoffs?
The top 21% players of each league advance. The
league champion(s) earn a bye (if there league average attendance was
30 people or more) and do NOT play in the regional tournaments. An official list of qualifiers will be posted for each
league.
Question: What if a
player qualifies at 2 or more different bars?
A player who qualifies twice will represent the bar they RANKED
highest in (as a PERCENTAGE of the playing field). The average
attendance is the number used to calculate the percentage. For
example, if a player ranked 5th out of 100 players in League "A", they
would rank in the top 5.0% of that league. If a player finished 3rd
out of 20 players in League "B", they would be in the top 15.0%.
Therefore, they would represent league "A" and be CROSSED OFF league "B".
A new player from League "B" will be MOVED UP to the qualifying range and
take their place. SO IT IS IMPORTANT for all players on the bubble
to check the standings frequently for changes right up to the regional
tournament date.
Question: What
if someone can't make the regional tournament, can I go in his/her place?
Sorry, the answer is NO. The regional tournaments are for
QUALIFIERS ONLY. That's why we played ten weeks!
Question: How
exactly is the top 20% calculated?
Our scoring system is programmed to take the AVERAGE attendance
number (number of people who play each week, then rounded up to the
nearest whole number) and multiply by 21.0%.
The number that is produced is ROUNDED UP to the next whole number to
figure the actual number of qualifiers. Important note:
this calculation is dynamic since a significant fluctuation in
attendance could change the number of qualifiers after any given week.
Question: What is the
"Perfect Attendance Bonus"?
The league uses an attendance scoring system to provide incentive
to players to participate regularly. Players who have perfect
attendance are rewarded with a 100 point bonus. This is a
SIGNIFICANT factor in determining final results. We are well aware
that smaller leagues are affected greatly! Fair or not, the bonus is
ALL or NOTHING, so if you miss one week, we feel bad, but that's the way
it goes...
Question: What if I'm
Late?
We will allow late players to post & fold for up to 1 hour (three
20 minute levels) to show up for their seat. After that, their chip
stacks will be removed from the tournament. This goes for regional
and final tournament events.
Question: Who will
move on from the regional tournaments?
Approximately the top 20+% finishers of each regional tournament
will move on to the State Final Tournament. The actual number will
be announced at the beginning of the tournament. The tables will
play hand-for-hand when the players are one away from the qualifying
number.
Question: Will the
play stop once the qualifiers have been reached?
There will be prizes at the regional events so play will continue
until there is an outright winner. Prizes will be announced.
Question: Why is the
final in Fargo?
The goal for Minnesota Poker League is to provide our players with
the best final tournament experience possible, without restrictions!
(There is no limitation on prizes for free play in North Dakota). By
taking our final tournament to a bar rather than a casino, the league will
not have to defer to the casino for any reason. Tournament
administration (structure, payouts, etc.) will be fully handled by league
officials. Playmakers Sports Bar is an excellent host and will contribute a lot of
prizes. They have an OUTSTANDING setup and great service. We
think everyone will agree. We invite players and fans alike to make
the trip to support their friends and witness the exciting showdown!
Question: If I win,
can I transfer or sell the grand prize?
Sorry, there is absolutely no way to transfer, sell or take
any cash option on the grand prize whatsoever.
Question: What If I
win and can't make the trip
If a winner declines they will forfeit all rights to the grand
prize. Once the prize package is put in the winner's name, it is
NON-REFUNDABLE! Therefore, there is nothing we can do if our winner
can't make the trip, emergency or not. If there is a case where we
can get the money back, an ALTERNATE prize package of similar value will
be offered at the league's discretion. Again, there is no cash
option whatsoever.
